Albert and his wife Marjory craved the natural set AROMATIC yogurt that they had grown up eating back in Africa.  Although this is in abundance throughout Africa – the search round South East London, where they had settled, proved fruitless.

“This pushed us into Marjory’s kitchen,” explains Albert.  “We had found various yogurt products, but they made a poor substitute for the cuddly, creamy, unspoilt and pure natural set AROMATIC yogurt that graced many an African dinner table.”

Armed with their rich African heritage and their professional backgrounds the couple launched their business.  They developed a product that is nutritious, healthy, very palatable – and named it Hodzeko-Amasi (meaning fermented milk in Bantu).

Their initial market was relatives, friends and other African born people who found out about Hodzeko-Amasi.  “Soon we outgrew Marjory’s kitchen,” smiles Albert.  Their business growth demonstrates their belief in the ethos of ‘Hunhu/Ubuntu’, which means ‘I am because you are’.

To share natural set AROMATIC yogurt with everyone, M&M Healthy Living Designs Ltd burst into life in August 2004, the processing moved to East - Sussex and later to the heart of the Wye Valley.

“This was, as far as we know, the first ever commercial production of this product in the UK,” says Albert.  However, they stuck to the process that they had originally established in Marjory’s kitchen, to ensure a consistently high quality product.

Because Hodzeko-Amasi is produced without sweeteners or additives, it is completely natural.  “We believe it is as pure as nature itself,” says Albert.

You only have to taste it to understand why the Albert and Marjory are so committed to Hodzeko-Amasi.  As one of our satisfied consumers said:

“I tasted your product and it is fantastic!  It brought fresh memories back of our own ‘Mabisi’ in Zambia.”

"It does remind me in taste of what I think of as proper yogurt as it was when it first arrived in health food shops in Britain in the sixties." DG Wrexham

Our passion for natural set AROMATIC yogurt did not end there. We have brought it into the 21st century by making it PROBIOTIC.
